Oxti Corporation has announced that Zylo+ has won both Gold for Best Task Light and an Innovation Award at NeoCon 2025, recognizing its combination of desktop sanitization and lighting in a sleek, modern design.
Zylo+ uses patented lighting technology to kill 99.8% of harmful pathogens on shared work surfaces without UV light or chemicals. Originally developed to help combat Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) by reducing reliance on chemical disinfectants, the technology is now used in hospitals, clinics, schools, and transit systems across Europe.
The science lies in the Soret Band, a narrow range of violet-blue light (400–420 nm) long known to deactivate and kill pathogens. Since the early 2000s, it’s been used in labs and medical settings for sterilization—but the harsh bluish tone made it unsuitable for everyday environments.
That changed when Italian research firm Biovitae developed a method for blending germicidal wavelengths with the broader visible spectrum, creating a natural white light with a high CRI (>90). The result is safe, healthy, comfortable illumination with germicidal protection—ideal for offices, education, and healthcare.
Additionally, today’s workspaces are dominated by bright monitors and dim, uneven ambient lighting—forcing the eyes to constantly adjust between extremes, leading to eye strain, fatigue, and reduced focus. Zylo+ addresses this with natural task lighting that improves visual comfort, focus, and circadian health, while also sanitizing the desktop continuously without toxic chemicals.
