bathroom occupied lock indicator

The Heads Up Lock Company has designed and developed a lock and sign indicator that specifies restroom occupancy, which can be seen as far a 300’ away.

The lock, designed by engineer & product developer, Bruce Roberts, aimed at tackling some of the inherent challenges average bathroom locks present to users with limited mobility or disabilities. Most single-stall restrooms are out of sight, down a long hallway, in another room, or even on another floor.

The Heads Up Lock Company has taken an innovative step to help reduce the wait time for not only folks with a disability, but for all restroom users. Roberts has approached the problem by designing a red and green light showing whether restrooms are vacant from a distance. Even when the restroom is out of sight and in another room. When the light is green, it is vacant. When the light is red, it is in use. The smart deadbolt lock with an indicator controls the light.

This no-maintenance-required kit can easily be installed by any qualified handyman in any single-stall restroom. If the building power goes out, it will automatically reset itself when the power comes back on. There’s no soldering, no twisting of wires, and no dead batteries to deal with.

The lock meets ADA requirements and is suitable for use in restaurants, warehouses, retirement homes, office buildings, and any facility that uses a single-stall restroom.
